Writing/Concept
“The Concert” was created as my 2nd-year short film at SVA. Production began in September 2021, and the film wasn’t completed until October 2022.
The idea for the film came after recalling a video where a group of women spoke about the double standards they faced compared to men in most traditional households. Since I am the older sibling in a culturally traditional family and wanted to tell a story from a younger sibling’s point of view, I based this story on some of the conversations I had with my younger sister, a few friends, and some family members who had older brothers.
For the characters, I took inspiration from the people in my own life, like my parents and family friends, but also myself. Sara and I share the same interests (rock music, makeup, and love for the color pink) and some of the frustrations of having overprotective parents. However, I feel that I am also like Amir since I have had older sibling privileges, such as being able to do more things growing up than my younger sister had been allowed to do.
Storyboards/ Color Script
For my storyboards, I did very rough thumbnails on paper before doing the final boards on Storyboard Pro.
With the finished Storyboards, I took a shot from each scene and created a color script to help figure out the color, lighting, and emotional moments in the film
